British riders Steve Webster and Tony Hewitt lost control at the exit of the left turn. As a result, the sidecar was taken away from the route directly into the pond. The accident was very tough, however, both drivers were still alive.
A 25-years-old Steve Webster would go on to be world sidecar champion 10 times over the following 20 years.
