Yamaha has introduced the Ténéré 700 World Rally model as the flagship in its growing adventure bike lineup, paying homage to Stéphane Peterhansel's 1993 Dakar race bike. With Yamaha's impressive history in the Dakar Rally, including six victories by Peterhansel, the Ténéré 700 World Rally celebrates this legacy and the enduring popularity of long-distance rally events.
The Ténéré's development began in 1983, inspired by Yamaha's success in the Dakar Rally and the increasing interest in adventure riding. As the Ténéré marks its 40th anniversary, the new World Rally edition commemorates the past triumphs and the motorcycles that contributed to its storied heritage. The World Rally edition boasts factory racing colors inspired by Peterhansel's Dakar-winning livery from three decades ago.
Beyond its striking appearance, the exclusive model offers several technical upgrades to tackle challenging terrains with ease. Notable features include long-travel KYB suspension systems and an exclusive Akrapovič titanium exhaust. To ensure sufficient range, the bike is equipped with 23-liter dual side-mounted fuel tanks, previously introduced on the World Raid edition. Additionally, a new flat two-piece seat, adorned with a World Rally logo, enhances rider comfort during long days of riding.
The Ténéré 700 World Rally also incorporates a three-mode switchable ABS system for effective braking and an Öhlins adjustable steering damper to maintain stability over diverse terrain. Riders can stay informed through a 5-inch color TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, providing access to essential information.
While the engine, chassis, and bodywork remain identical to the World Raid edition launched earlier in 2022, the World Rally edition stands out with its distinctive rally-inspired paint scheme and graphics.
Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience the Ténéré 700 World Rally firsthand at the upcoming ABR Festival, scheduled from June 23 to 25 at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire. Yamaha factory riders Alesandro Botturi and Pol Tarrès will also sport the race colors during their 2023 race program.
The Ténéré World Rally will be available for purchase in mid-June, with a retail price of £13,000, including on-the-road charges and VAT. Adventure riders seeking a remarkable blend of performance and heritage can look forward to exploring new horizons aboard the Ténéré 700 World Rally edition.
