In 2021, CFMoto amazed enthusiasts with the SR-C21 sportbike concept, showcasing its premium features and aggressive design. Initially rumored to be powered by a KTM-sourced 800cc parallel-twin engine, it later emerged as the 450SR and, more recently, the 450SS in the U.S. market.
Although the 450SR didn't have the powerhouse potential of the LC8C parallel-twin, it established itself as a formidable contender in the entry-level sportbike segment. Equipped with a 449.5cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected parallel-twin engine, the 450SR distinguished itself from rivals like the Honda CBR500R and Kawasaki Ninja 400 with its distinctive 270-degree crankshaft. Similar to the Yamaha YZF-R7, the CFMoto 450SR provided the responsive characteristics and unique sound associated with this configuration.
Now, CFMoto has taken a step further with the introduction of the 450SR S, showcasing its commitment to aggressive expansion. The standout feature of the updated sportbike is the addition of a single-sided swingarm—a design element previously seen in the SR-C21 concept but excluded from the production model. This feature enhances the bike's aggressive aesthetics, highlighting the striking design of the alloy wheels.
Complementing the single-sided swingarm is revised bodywork that echoes the SR-C21 concept. The 450SR S boasts more aggressive fairings accentuated by large winglets at the front. While these winglets are primarily for visual impact given the bike's power output, they contribute to its sporty appeal. Furthermore, the 450SR S features a short underbelly exhaust pipe that exposes the rear wheel, enhancing the bike's slim profile and athletic styling.
CFMoto has also introduced new liveries for the 450SR S, available in Zircon Black and Starlight White. Initially launched in China, the updated model is expected to arrive in other Asian markets soon. Enthusiasts hope that the enhanced version will also reach the U.S. market. In China, the 450SR S is priced at 33,580 Yuan, approximately $4,743 USD. For comparison, the current generation CFMoto 450SS is priced at $5,499 USD.
