In the realm of motorcycle manufacturers, MV Agusta may not enjoy the same level of prominence as its competitors. This is partly due to the company's less frequent release of new models or updates. However, when MV Agusta does unveil something new, it undeniably captures the attention of enthusiasts. This week, the brand did exactly that with its latest special bike.
Shortly after the United States celebrated its 247th Independence Day, MV Agusta introduced a tribute to "the land of the free, adventure, epic journeys, and, naturally, racing." This homage takes the form of the MV Agusta Dragster RR SCS America, which joins a lineage of exceptional bikes we'll delve into later.
Based on the Dragster RR SCS, a formidable streetfighter, the America version boasts a range of extras and distinctive features that set it apart. Most notably, it showcases a captivating color scheme reminiscent of the American flag.
Mechanically, the bike aligns with the standard Dragster RR SCS, featuring a 140-horsepower engine that propels it to a top speed of 152 mph (244 kph). However, the America version benefits from an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system with a dedicated ECU, enhancing the total output to 148 hp.
One distinguishing feature of the America edition is the specially designed seat adorned with America Special Edition lettering. Additionally, each bike is equipped with a triple clamp bearing a laser-engraved individual serial number. This exclusivity is highlighted by the fact that the MV Agusta Dragster RR SCS America is a limited edition model, with only 300 units slated for production.
The bike will be sold with a Special Parts Kit, which includes a transparent SCS clutch cover, a bike cover, and a certificate of authenticity. Exclusively available in North America, pricing details have not yet been disclosed, despite the bike already being offered "exclusively at select MV Agusta dealerships across North America."
As the largest market for the Italian company, the United States has been honored with special color schemes on MV Agusta motorcycles since the 1970s, starting with the 750S. This tradition of releasing unique versions for the local market began in 2004 with the launch of the Brutale 750 America.
The same designation has been used multiple times thereafter, including in 2012 with the Brutale 1090 RR America (the most powerful naked bike produced by MV Agusta at the time), in 2017 with the introduction of the Brutale 800 RR America, and a year later with the Dragster 800 RR America.
