If you've ever heard the saying, "It's better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow," you'll understand the ethos behind Compact Octane, SoCal's newest track day organizer. Embracing the idea that small bikes can deliver big fun, Compact Octane focuses on motorcycles with engines 400cc and below, making track riding accessible and enjoyable for beginners.

Learning the ropes on a smaller bike is an excellent way to master the fundamentals, and that's exactly what Compact Octane aims to promote. Their belief is simple: You don't need a big bike to have a blast on the track. Bikes like the Yamaha YZF-R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 400 provide the perfect platform for honing your skills and building confidence.

Compact Octane's story began with a track day incident in Southern California, where their founders were riding sub-400cc bikes alongside riders on larger machines. Skilled as they were, the smaller bike riders were able to pass some of the bigger bike riders in corners. Unfortunately, this led to an incident when one of the larger bike riders attempted a risky pass and collided with a smaller bike rider during a turn.

Determined to create a safe and supportive track day environment for beginners, Compact Octane was born. Their mission is to ensure that new riders feel welcomed into the riding community and not intimidated by more experienced riders on bigger bikes. To make the sport more accessible, they offer gear rentals for those who haven't purchased their own track gear yet.

On August 19, 2023, Compact Octane will host its first official event at the Streets of Willow and the Willow Springs International Raceway. The event will be well-organized and structured, catering to riders of all levels and bike sizes. There will be three groups: Group A for advanced riders on bikes under 400cc, Group B for novice and beginner track riders on small bikes, and Group O, an open category for seasoned riders on bigger, more powerful bikes to join in on the fun.

If you're looking to experience the thrill of the track, learn essential riding skills, and connect with a welcoming community of riders, Compact Octane's track day event is the place to be. Don't miss out on the chance to enjoy big fun on small bikes! Join Compact Octane for an unforgettable track day experience.
