BMW Motorrad has announced that registration for the US GS Trophy Team qualifiers is officially open. The qualifying event will take place from October 12 to 15 at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, South Carolina. Participants will compete for a chance to represent Team USA in the 2024 BMW International GS Trophy, which will be held in Namibia.

The final event in Namibia will bring together 22 national teams, including 16 men's teams and six women's teams, who will compete in a series of special tests. These tests range from traditional rally stages to more unconventional challenges, such as riding blindfolded through a cone course with only teammates' voices as guidance or playing "Motoball," where riders use the motorcycle's rear wheel to "kick" a soccer ball. The GS Trophy is not only a test of endurance and skill but also a display of mental fortitude.

The participants who make it to the final stage of the competition will have the opportunity to ride a new R 1250 GS in Enduro Pro Mode with Enduro ABS on and traction control off. BMW will provide this motorcycle for the final event. To qualify for the competition, riders must be US citizens or permanent residents and ride BMW GS models, including the G 310 GS, select parallel-twin F models, and boxer models starting from the R 1100 GS.

For those who don't make it to the final team but still want to experience the final course, BMW offers limited spots for "Redemption Sunday." This additional event will not only give access to the course but also provide instructors to help participants improve their skills and get ready for future qualifiers. BMW recognizes that competition is about improving and having fun with motorcycling.

However, some riders are ineligible to make it to the final US team, including members of previous International GS Trophy teams, BMW employees, BMW dealership owners, professional instructors and riders with AMA or FIM competition licenses, as well as certified BMW IIA/ITA Academy graduates and brand experts.
