Whether you have a penchant for Hondas, a soft spot for Yamahas, a Suzuki aficionado, or a BMW enthusiast, the upcoming weekend of October 14-15 promises a spectacular display of motorcycles at the Staffordshire County Showground. It's the United Kingdom's premier classic bike show, and we've handpicked four remarkable bikes among the many treasures revving to life from their garages.
Ray Robinson's journey began over 30 years ago when he sold his Honda CB7500 K1. Determined to restore it to its former glory, it took him seven years to persuade the owner to part with it. In just one year, he transformed a collection of parts into a breathtaking, fully functional motorcycle.
David Smith's Yamaha RD350 LC serves as a testament to unwavering dedication. Eight years of relentless effort, sweat, and tears culminated in the resurrection of this timeless RD. He not only made it roadworthy but also restored it to factory standards, complete with the original paint, decals, and manufacturer-finished parts.
Nigel Griffiths faced the daunting task of recreating a Suzuki XR 69 with nothing more than photos and his deep knowledge of the Suzuki GS1000 he raced in the past. Crafting most of the components and even fashioning the necessary tools and jigs, he brought this masterpiece to life from scratch.
Richard Gibbons took on the challenge of restoring a BMW R100 Café Racer, outfitting it with features like BMW K100 forks, Tarozzi rear sets, and clip-ons. Renowned BMW engineer Steve Scriminger oversaw the engine, ensuring it met top standards. From the original sales receipt to the finished bike, its history remains nearly complete.
In addition to this captivating motorcycle showcase, the event will feature the Back Street Heroes Custom Championships final and esteemed guests like Henry Cole, Guy "Skid" Willison, and Allen Millyard. They'll share their tales from the world of biking and their recent world record achievement, the fastest tandem motorcycle, clocking in at an impressive 183.5mph. Join us for a weekend of two-wheeled wonderment!
