Builders - In 1984, driven by Fred Kodlin's vision to create custom motorcycles in a way the world had never seen before, Kodlin Motorcycles was established in Germany. Since then, the Kodlin name has built a strong reputation in crafting unique bikes, innovative product design, and high-quality manufacturing.
Today, with a global presence and headquartered in Morgan Hill, California, Kodlin USA's co-founders, Len Kodlin and Holger Mohr, have merged American and European influences to create a unique hybrid of accessories and motorcycle design.
Fred's Beginnings - Fred Kodlin, raised in Germany, built his first Bonanza handlebar as a teenager for a Zuendapp Supersport he used to ride. After completing his apprenticeship as a welder, he pursued a Master's in Vehicle Construction and Blacksmithing. In 1984, he founded Kodlin Motorcycles and, two years later, began manufacturing his own products. Fred imported hundreds of motorcycles each year from the United States, customizing them in his unique style and selling them to customers throughout Europe. His contribution to the motorcycle world earned him a place in the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2021.
The Saalbach - The motorcycle you see here is the Saalbach, a collaborative creation of father and son. The next generation has followed in their father's footsteps, harnessing and continuing to develop that knowledge. Len Kodlin designed this Sportster 883 inspired racer for the organizers of Biker Mania in Austria. It features original Kodlin products, RSD wheels, and a special exhaust system.
Innovative Design - The keel, a piece designed and manufactured by the Kodlins, is not merely decorative; it aims to enhance the dynamic performance of the Sportster. Additionally, the Kodlin Racing rear fender was designed to fit Sportsters from 2004 to 2022. A custom-made Kodlin seat completes this impressive ensemble.
Additional Details - The speedometer is from the renowned Koso brand, and the paintwork is the handiwork of Len Kodlin himself. The final result is that of a short acceleration race competition motorcycle, akin to the famous Dragsters or Hot Rods. This entire motorcycle was built in Germany, and its components are available on Kodlin Motorcycles' online store.
