While it may be challenging to recognize, the Gray Joe was once a Breakout, specifically a 2022 model. European riders still have access to this version, as America exclusively offers the 2023 model with a 117 engine.
However, the Gray Joe has undergone a dramatic visual overhaul, stripping away all traces of its Breakout heritage. What remains is a cold and unapologetic machine that exudes an almost intimidating aura.
The transformation is primarily due to the removal of several original body components. Gone are the front and rear fenders, side covers, and, most notably, any paint that might have softened the bike's aggressiveness.
The spotlight falls squarely on the bike's wheels, akin to a loud interruption during a tennis match. Crafted by DNA Speciality, these wheels boast substantial dimensions for a build of this caliber: 23 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear.
While these measurements are not groundbreaking, the standout feature is the imposing appearance of each wheel, achieved through a staggering 52 spokes radiating outward. This formidable look is further accentuated by the appropriately matched, weathered Metzeler tires.
Beyond the tires and body modifications, Bad Land has incorporated several unique elements into the design. The front now features a springer-style fork, extending two inches longer than the original.
Other one-off components include the handlebar, seat plate, side mount bracket for the license plate, and the distinctive fuel tank perched atop the frame. Alongside the wheels, this raw metal tank contributes to the bike's overall "wow" factor.
Under the hood, the Gray Joe retains its unaltered 114 engine. However, it sports a new Vance & Hines exhaust system, replacing the original.
While the Harley-Davidson Gray Joe is among Bad Land's recent creations, as with previous builds, pricing information remains undisclosed. For context, a 2023 Breakout retails for $20,999 from Harley's dealership.
