Indian Motorcycle Company has initiated a safety recall concerning specific 2023 Challenger and Pursuit models due to a fuel line problem. This issue arises from a flawed fuel line supplied by one of Indian's vendors, which could lead to engine stalls in affected motorcycles. These unexpected stalls pose an increased risk of accidents.

Approximately 50 motorcycles are potentially affected, accounting for 100 percent of this model's population. The impacted 2023 Indian Challengers were manufactured between June 16, 2023, and June 26, 2023, with VIN numbers ranging from 56KLCBRR3P3420713 to 56KLCBRR8P3421033 in a non-sequential order.

The recall also extends to 2023 Indian Pursuit Dark Horse Icons with Premium Packages, produced between June 16, 2023, and June 29, 2023. These motorcycles have VIN numbers ranging from 56KLDFRR4P3420708 to 56KLDFRR5P3421138 in a non-sequential order.

Indian Motorcycle identified this issue during end-of-line dynamometer auditing of motorcycles in production and later traced it back to improperly assembled fuel lines provided by their supplier. In response, Indian Motorcycle took swift action to address the problem and simultaneously contained bikes that might have used the suspect fuel lines while still in the company's possession.

Although Indian Motorcycle has not received any reports of crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to this recall, it is proceeding with caution and issuing a safety recall for potentially affected bikes. Effective June 20, 2023, Indian Motorcycle halted the shipment of affected motorcycles from its factory and will only resume shipments after the proper fuel lines have been acquired and installed.

Under the terms of this recall, authorized Indian Motorcycle dealers will replace the affected fuel lines at no charge to customers. Customers who incurred expenses to replace or service their vehicles due to this issue before the recall may be eligible for reimbursement under the Indian Motorcycle reimbursement plan filed with NHTSA. Proper documentation will be necessary to process these claims.

Indian Motorcycle will inform its dealership network about this safety recall around August 22, 2023, and plans to notify registered owners of affected motorcycles on September 12, 2023.

For further assistance, owners can contact Indian Motorcycle customer service at 1-877-204-3697. The recall campaign number for Indian Motorcycle is I-23-06.
