Peugeot, a somewhat understated presence in the New Zealand motorcycle scene, is poised to capture more attention with the exciting announcement of the forthcoming XP400 maxi-scooter.
Pre-orders have just opened for the XP400, a 400cc marvel that takes the top spot in Peugeot's local lineup. It comes with an enticing introductory price, starting at $16,990 for the base XP400 Allure, while the GT model is just $500 more. Importantly, deposits for this new model are entirely refundable, and the initial units are expected to touch down later this year.
Nestled within the larger segment of scooters, the XP400 boasts Peugeot's 400cc PowerMotion® Engine, transmitting power to the rear wheel through a CVT transmission. This powerful engine delivers 36.7hp at 8,150rpm, and torque registers at 38.1Nm at 5,400rpm.
Noteworthy features of the XP400 include an 815mm seat height and a substantial weight of 231 kilograms when fully fueled with a 13.5-liter tank. Despite its weight, the XP400 impresses with a remarkable fuel economy of just 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
Distinguishing the two models primarily boils down to color options. The XP400 Allure offers a choice of Sideral Mat Black or Aurora Satin Green, while the GT version can be had in Shark Grey or Snow White. The Allure is equipped with alloy wheels in 15-inch and 17-inch sizes, while the GT opts for cross-spoked wheels in the same dimensions to enhance its adventurous aesthetics.
When it comes to braking, the XP400 doesn't disappoint, featuring twin 270mm front discs gripped by radially mounted calipers, while the rear employs a 240mm disc.
As expected with scooters, the XP400 models come well-equipped with convenient amenities. There's ample under-seat storage, capable of accommodating a full-face helmet, and a lockable glove box with dual compartments, along with a handy 12V power socket.
In terms of technology, both XP400 models come with integrated connectivity and i-Connect technology, providing a smart dashboard with a color TFT screen. These scooters are linked to the Peugeot Motocycles app, offering turn-by-turn guidance, journey details, and SMS notifications.
Urban Moto Imports will be standing behind the new Peugeot XP400 with a 2-year unlimited kilometer factory warranty and 2 years of roadside assistance, ensuring that prospective owners can embark on their journeys with peace of mind, knowing that they are covered for any unforeseen uncertainties.
