Mototraveler Nathan Millward
Nathan Millward drove around almost the whole world on an Australian mail motorcycle. In total, the Australian adventurer traveled 29,000 miles (46,670 km) with an average speed of 37 mph (60 km / h). Nathan started in Sydney, visited Europe, the US and 19 countries in general.
The first part of the trip is a trip from Sydney to London. Distance: 23,000 miles (37,000 km). It is interesting that for this journey Nathan Millward was preparing for only two days, it is obvious that the decision was spontaneous: "I lived in Australia nine months when they suddenly announced that my visa expired. I had a ticket to England, but there was no desire to return, so I just got dressed and drove on a motorbike that I already had. I thought it would take me about five months ... "
As a result, the trip from Sydney to London took Nathan more than nine months. He traveled to different regions of our planet: a ferry from Darwin (Australia) to the Republic of East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Burma, Kathmandu (Nepal), India and Pakistan. In Iran, the traveler was refused a visa, so he had to travel to China via North Pakistan and the Himalayas (the world's second tallest road 5.5 km above sea level). Having arrived in China, Nathan Millward went to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Poland. Then there was only one thing left - to cross Europe and the English Channel.
Nathan Millward wrote a book about his improvised journey. In Australia, the book will be released under the title "Going Postal", and for the whole world the book will be published under the title "The Long Road Home". According to Nathan, the book does not simply describe where he visited and what he saw, it reveals his emotions that accompanied him throughout the trip: periods of happiness, sadness, loneliness, fear, regret, faith ...
After finishing the book, Nathan Millward went west. After fixing the motorcycle, he plunged into a plane and flew to New York: "I did not have a clear plan or route. The task was to get to San Francisco at all costs. As a result, I spent six weeks and traveled six thousand miles. We (with a motorcycle) traveled all over Detroit and Chicago, drove along the old Route 66 highway, over the rocky mountains, through the Grand Canyon, the Monument Valley and Las Vegas. In the end, we reached the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge. "
Nathan Millward talking about the trip to the US: "To some extent, the journey to America was more difficult than a trip from Sydney to London for one reason: in such a large country there are too many different route options on which to go. In addition, it is necessary to go faster and the pace of life is much higher than the speed with which I could travel. The Midwest was open and lonely, from time to time I felt vulnerable, but when I got to Colorado, I fully enjoyed the scenery and people. The Death Valley is my favorite place, and the trip to the Monument Valley at sunset was beautiful. "
In spring, Millward, along with his motorcycle "Dorothy" (nickname), plans to travel north to Alaska: "It's hard to stop when you have already begun to travel, because on the road you find freedom and open space. Nobody makes you do anything or be someone you are not. You just sit in the saddle of a motorcycle, and all day you wander around the world, looking at new things for yourself and meeting new people. After Alaska I would like to travel across America to Argentina. I guess that then I will have nothing left, just stop ... or appear in the sea! "
