She lives! (Kinda)

Alright folks. Here’s a question for you. I just installed the new carb today and it seems to run perfectly with OUT having fuel constantly pushed into it. With the fuel line from the tank disconnected from the inlet on the float bowl, it works flawlessly. But, as soon as I connect the fuel line back to it, it dies. Obviously, the carb is flooding and isn’t able to get rid of the fuel in the bowl fast enough to compensate for the amount of fuel going into the bowl. Any suggestions as to how I can limit the fuel intake that DOESN’T involve touching the carb? An adjustable hose clamp on the fuel line maybe?

The float height needs set or grit is keeping float valve from bedding properly in seat. Height should have been done in factory. Check setting from workshop manual. Carb needs to come off unfortunately.

Russell Taylor, How do I set the float height? I turned the carb upside down and blew into it while pushing the float up and it restricted the airflow. If that matters.

Ezekiel Aaron Worst, The float has a malleable tang that can be bent to lift or reduce the float height. It is set too high allowing too much fuel into the bowl and flooding the valve. The official method is complicated. I always adjust it by eye. Increasing the gap should work as it only takes a mill or so between too low and too high.

Russell Taylor, Now, what am I looking for to bend exactly?

Ezekiel Aaron Worst, there is a little detachable valve that moves into a seat when the float moves. the seat of this valve should be adjustable.
