How to remove paint without damaging the bike's original color?

Was riding my bike to work, and someone had dropped a can of white paint on the road. It was spilt all across the road, and I tried to cross it at the spot which seemed there was the least paint but not only it splashed all over the bike, almost lost control of the bikebe cause it slipped. What do you suggested to use in order to remove the paint? was thinking paint thinner but I'm afraid it will damage the bike's original color.
