Zenith 17 MXZ - CARBURETTOR

Opening the carb body gave me my first inkling that the bike hadn't been run for a great number of years, there were many dead spiders inside! The carb wasn't in bad condition, it was simple to dismantle and easy to clean the individual parts. I used isopropyl alcohol, a tooth brush, a bronze brush normally used for cleaning suede shoes, cotton ear buds and high grade wet and dry sand paper. The only difficulty I had with the dismantling was removing the jets, I had to put the carb body in a vice between two protective pieces of wood to secure the carb to allow me to get a proper purchase on the jets. The Zenith 17 MXZ are simple carbs and don't have many parts, also detailed exploded diagrams are easily found on the web. I discovered that the banjo on mine was was being held together by epoxy resin, these are quite difficult to source, luckily Greystone Enterprises had one in a box of bits that had just come in on the day I phoned them.

I have bought on Ebay an intake adaptor, if it is the correct part it should take the place of the current, standard zenith filter and allow for the connection of any number of air filter options.
