NIU UQi+ - Spakrs

Before the e-bike version of the UQi+ was banned from all public roads and bike paths in my province of Québec, this ride introduced me to non-bicycle riding. Once it was banned, I leveled up by getting a scooter license and buying my current ride.

Performance & Drivetrain

- Top Speed: 32 km/h (approx. 20 mph).
- Motor: NIU-branded motor with a rated power of 500W and a peak power of 750W (available for up to 30 mins).
- Climbing Ability: Can handle hill grades up to 13%.
- Riding Modes: Features 2 modes, typically e-save and sport.

Battery & Charging

- Capacity: Extended Range version utilizes a 48V 42Ah (2016 Wh) NIU ENERGY lithium-ion battery.
- Removability: The battery is portable and removable for convenient indoor charging.
- Charging Time: Fully charges in under 7 hours.
- Weight: The battery alone weighs approximately 11 kg (24.2 lbs).

Chassis & Build

- Frame: Constructed from lightweight and strong aluminum.
- Suspension: Equipped with front and rear oil-damping direct-acting shock absorbers for a smoother ride.
- Braking System: Uses a hydraulic disc brake for the front and a drum brake for the rear, featuring regenerative braking to recover energy.
- Tires: 16-inch (305mm x 57.15mm) tubeless, puncture-resistant tires on both front and rear.
- Lighting: Comprehensive LED lighting system, including the iconic NIU Halo headlight.
