On Sunday, 19th of July 2015, Our lovely Joshua passed away suddenly in his sleep.
Joshua was loved and known by so many people, but he was especially loved by his mum and dad; Jen and Michael, his big sisters; Laura and Holly, and his little brother; Aiden.
Joshua had severe disabilities, meaning he spent many years in and out of Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
Joshua also went to Zoë's Place Baby Hospice and Claire House Children's Hospice for respite, which was always a big help to us as aside from the amazing night carers we had for Joshua, it was our duty to look after our boy all day, and sometimes it proved to be extremely difficult; so sometimes it was nice to have a break, while knowing he was still being looked after.
The day Joshua passed away, Claire House offered us support to help us get through that incredibly tough time, and Joshua was able to lay to rest peacefully in The Butterfly Suite. Our family was able to stay in a suite close to Joshua, so that we were able to spend as much time with him as possible before having to say our very last goodbyes.
Joshua’s funeral was held on the 31st of July 2015, and we were so overwhelmed by the amount of people who came to celebrate our little boys life, although not surprised as we certainly knew how much he was loved.
In 2016 we did a ride to Anglesey to raise money for Claire House Children’s Hospice, where Joshua had respite, and we managed to raise over £1,200.
In 2017 for Zoë's Place Baby Hospice; where Joshua also went for respite, we managed to raise just over £1,000.
In 2018, for chART; an incredible charity who raise money to get the equipment that children with disabilities need to get the best care possible; we managed to raise over £1,300!
In 2019 we raised money for Rockin’ For Tots; they raise funds and awareness for the neonatal care of babies, the total amount raised was over £1,500.
In 2020, our chosen charity was for Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes, MCBB who are a Voluntary service and rely on public donations to keep the service running.
This years chosen charity is for Alder Hey Imagine Appeal, Joshua spent most of his life in and out of Alder hey requiring treatment, operations, many reviews and appointments; so we hold this charity; like all others we have raised money for; very close to our hearts.
Without the help of Alder hey and the service they provide also the fabulous doctors and nurses Joshua would not have lived for as long as he did.
We are so grateful that we are able to continue with this event, even after six years we are still so amazed and touched by the turn out each year.
We are so happy that we are able to raise money and help others through the memory of our little Joshua. ❤️
