This trip is our annual Colorado Canyon Ride through the Colorado Rockies from the south from Morrison to Mt. Evans, Idaho Springs, and on to Estes Park via Peak-to-Peak Highway. We will be in town from Thursday til Sunday, but the main ride is Saturday morning August 27th, 7am til 6pm maybe longer from Morrison to Estes Park.
This is a two-day event. SBC2C members will be arriving Thursday morning from Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Kansas. We will meet n greet Thursday evening with Food n Brew somewhere. We will do a ride Friday morning somewhere in the southern region of the Rockies.
Saturday morning is the main event ride, meeting and having breakfast & Coffee at LAUNCH ESPRESSO FOOD & SPIRITS, 18455 W Colfax Ave #101, Golden, CO 80401 near the new Harley Davidson Dealership off I-70. If you miss us there, we will start the ride from the Phillips 66 in Morrison just 4 miles south via Hog Back Rd and County Rd 93 or 6 miles south via CO-470 East.
The ride will begin promptly at 9:00 am from the gas station heading into the mountain via Bear Creek Road (Hwy 74) stopping at the EVERGREEN DAM for photos and waiting on stragglers.
We will continue from here via Evergreen Parkway to Squaw Pass Road (CO-103). Tuscany Tavern is your landmark on your right to turn left as we continue on headed to Echo Lake Park. We will follow Squaw Pass all the way to Winter Gulch at which point we will detour down this road for a bit of shenanigans approximately a mile or two, then back up continuing on to our intended destination.
Once we reach The Lake, our last leg with no stops will end in Idaho Springs. Quick Gathering at the Kum & Go, then we will make our way to the Squatch Store before heading up Central City Parkway, winding our way through Blackhawk where we intersect with Highway 119 North to Nederland.
From Black Hawk, this next run via 119 will be a non-stop, on and off quick pace ride all the way to Nederland stopping at the gas station on the circle (2nd St) to gather and gas up before heading on up to Estes Park.
From Nederland to the Hwy 7 junction, by now you should have found your riding order. Please allow those who can handle the fast sweepers to be in front of you. We will continue up this mountain with beautiful views, awesome twisties, and wide-open lanes. This quick pace ride will have one last gathering at the Hwy 7 junction where we will turn left with the next stop being Estes Park for lunch at Pepper’s Mexican Grill.
From Peppers, we will head east on 34 to The Dam Store, from there we will head back towards Estes to make our way down Peak-to-Peak Hwy to wrap up the ride. It may still be a bit early, but we will decide earlier in the day what we plan to do because most of the locals will be ready to retire for the day. We know how it ends, but we may not be done for the day. Join us on SBC2C Events page for all updates on this ride.
