Typical Harley transmission output seal leak turns out to be a nightmare
What I thought would be the “typical transmission output seal” leak repair, on my Electaglide, ended up being the inner needle bearings failure, in the main shaft output 5th gear. I ended up rebuilding the whole transmission, replacing all of the bearings, clips, seals, and gaskets (the gears shafts and shifter drum were all okay).
I figured if the transmission had to come apart, to get to the one bearing, I might as well do it right.
