New to the here - might as well say Hello ?
After seeing a post about this app in one of the Facebook Groups im in I thought I would come check it out.
I love the idea that there's a place just for riders to share stories, pictures etc. Now to be able to somehow converge all the information from Net Rider, Meet-Up and Facebook into one location ??
For anyone who's reading this who would love to be a part of more social riding groups, I'd highly recommend downloading the app Meet Up and searching for motorbike groups there! There's a handful in Sydney and most accept riders and bikes of all levels.
*My Story*
My entire family own at least 1 motorbike, but I was always the black sheep!
I had a bike when I was only 16, but never got my licence. After only a few weeks in the big smoke (moved from a country town to Melbourne when I was 16 and a half) I saw 3 courier riders get cleaned up so I called my parents and told them to sell my bike.
Fast forward 26 years. My then girlfriend had just purchased a motorbike after selling her 1st bike just before CoVID started. We talked about going on rides to great cafes together. I was excited!
Then the news broke that after 11.5 years of service at a global financial services company, my role was to be eliminated on March 12th 2021! Knowing that getting a new job would become a Full Time Job, decided to make 1 day per week, just for ME. So I enrolled to do my L's (and if I didn't like it, I would not buy a bike and just walk away).
I test rode 7 different bikes over the next 3 weeks and after Easter finally landed on a 2nd-hand BMW G 310R that had done less than 7,000km and was cheap ~5K.
im writing this intro June 4th 2021 and I've ridden over 1,200 km on my bike - realised 310cc is not big enough ? - recently separated and looking forward to creating my own memories of amazing places to ride to so that some day, I can share them with my new partner (who hopefully will be a biker too ☺)
