My friend has a 2011 Ninja 1000 and we just put a new chain on today.

We put the chain and rear sprocket on no issues but the front sprocket castle nut wouldn’t budge. We tried using a 27mm 12 point sockets and it spun after given a decent amount of torque even though that was the size of the sockets everyone online says to use. After we put the new chain on we started hearing 3 distinct rubbing/clunking sounds after every other revolution of the tire. Couldn’t figure out where it was coming from exactly but it sounds like it’s coming from the chain or rear sprocket. Hopefully someone could give us some advice to help us fix it or if it’s even a problem without taking it to shop.

Check the rear stand. The pieces under your swingarm that are holding the bike up may just be close enough to rub.
