Prepping Batteries
I've prepped a LOT of batteries over the years. I've found it makes a difference doing it right and being patient. I will only buy dry packed batteries. I can keep a dry pack battery on the shelf for years.
Load up the acid and let it sit so absorb into the glass mat over night. Charge for the rate and time shown on the battery with the caps off. This is a little 5 Amp Hour battery for a 250 dirt bike. Even my little "wall wart" charger is a little big but it will do. Slower is better.
It is an automatic charger so it will shutoff when full charge is reached. Well maintained get 5-8 years on good quality AGM batteries.
I like the lite weight of Lithium Iron Phosphate, but have had too many failures to trust them. Sudden death. Poor cold weather performance. And a deceptive set of lead "equivalence" marketing. They, in my experience, arent quite there yet.
I did have a big 16 cell AntiGravity unit that defied all expectations and best know is running to this day. I suspect most Lithium batteries are sold undersized.
