LOOM & ELECTRICS (FORKS)
The diagrams below, from left to right, are the standard T20 lightweight forks the T20C competition forks with the longer sleeve nut, part 25, and the T20 heavyweight forks with external spring. The competition forks diagram shows a different design of longer sleeve nut that still has the upper bush installed in the top of the lower leg. I have ordered two pairs of upper bushes and am planning on in stalling them in the top of the elongated sleeve nut and in the top of the lower leg to give better stanchion location. My external spring parts look like they have been made from parts 18, 19 and maybe the washer 20 from the 3rd diagram.
I removed the upper bush, steel washer and oil seal from the T20CA dust excluder sleeve nut, it was cleaned and all replacement parts were bought from Greystone Enterprises.
The piece of pipe that is used as a spacer and lower spring mount is heavy mild steel, as I intend to retain the extra external sprint modification I decided to lighten the spacer through drilling a few holes in it. However as the large washer creates clearance issues with the extra wide 3.5 inch front tyre I will weld the washer to the spacer and grind the washer radius down. Firstly I'll grind a flat face on the spacer to help to mate it to the washer for welding.
Once the machining was complete I rather unconventionally super glued the parts together in the correct position, this is far less fiddly that using clamps when welding.
Once finished they were cleaned and sprayed.
