I grabbed this specific R1 generation for the crossplane engine—nothing else on the street sounds this much like an MotoGP bike. The way it hooks up and drives out of the corners is just addictive.

Got the YZF R1 2012 mainly for the crossplane sound and the new traction control system. It absolutely cooks your legs in city traffic and it's pretty thirsty on gas. But the low-end torque pulling out of corners makes you forget about all that. Bulletproof engine so far, just keep up with regular maintenance and it's golden. The TCS on this year's model is a lifesaver. Eats rear tires fast, but totally worth the smile it gives you.
