Adventures of YB125 in Argentina. Part 3

Without one day two weeks in El Chalten flew by unnoticed! More than 100 kilometers are trampled along the paths. What to say, we will miss. And defenitely want to return.

We do not know what surprises us more in the last couple of months: green parrots on birches or ostriches against the background of snow mountains

The city Calafate is right on the lake Arсhentino, and a flamingo with purple wings is grazing right on its bank (seen in the photo), swans with black necks (will have to be taken word of it), coots and dozens of different kinds of birds.

When you walk through its streets, the green clouds become a cover. Even more wonderful this reflex from the lake is felt because the embankments don't have glacial turquoise color, but ordinary, and therefore, it's easy to forget that Argentine forms the same glaciers sliding down from the Southern Ice Sheet.

And the people in Calafat are pleasant. For example, it's Lisi, she's an awesome motor mechanic! And a good person. Having a turn for many days ahead, she found time to dig through the entire warehouse of her small shop, looking for the necessary parts, and explaining what and how to do with the motorcycle. Has deciphered new sounds of the Friend. She shared the keys. A cool girl, loving moto (and quad) cycles. We defenitely recommend the place Rana Motos.

You need to call in Calafate mainly because there is Perito Moreno.
Glacier Perito Moreno is one of the fastest-climbing glaciers in the world. Glaciologists have not yet concluded that it varies with time in volume, but its vividness impresses scientists. And of course, not only scientists! Before you, probably the most popular tourist destination of Patagonia. Probably, you can compare it with the Grand Canyon. Not in size, but in its dramatic and inconceivable coolness.

Every day dozens of ice towers and walls crumble with a deafening crash and crash into one of the arms of Lake Archentino, raising gray frothy waves. Imagine! You are standing in front of an ice plummet 70 meters high and suddenly, a whole tower of about 50 meters high snaps from it! And the whole... vertically goes into the water. It would seem where?
70 meters - the height of the wall only above (!) water! Under the water 160 meters of ice is hidden! The depth of the lake at its deepest point reaches 700 meters and it is located near Perito Moreno. So these lumps of ice have a lot place to hide in ...

Then we crossed again the border with Chile, where we visited the Torres Del Peine National Park, reached Punta Arenas and crossed the Tierra del Fuego by ferry to the royal penguins and again crossed the border with Argentina.

Patagonian roads are rich in bicycle heroes - Huno from Korea. For the first time we met on a trail in the mountains. And now once again met on the road. He made about 20,000 km in almost a year from Alaska (!) And is already close to his goal Ushuae! A persistent guy and merry fellow, and even a foot injury is not an obstacle for him!!!

On the way to Ushuaia we were so wet that we could not manage the planned 200 kilometers. We waited a long time for the rain to end, but did not wait and decided to continue our way. After sunset, all layers of wet clothing began to freeze. The nearest town was Toluin.
In the town the only hotel was closed until September. We really didn't know what to do. Suddenly we saw a passer-by on an empty street . "Excuse me, but do not you know if there is a working hostel here?" "Looking for a place to sleep? And I saw you on the road. Let's go, I'll show you, I have such a room ... you'll check it wheither it suits you."" How much? "" No, it's free, now you'll see. "

So we got to one of the most legendary "casa de ciclistas" (house of bicycle and moto travelers :)) And also learned about such a legendary phenomenon as "Panaderia la Union". What was on the walls of the room? Records of hundreds of motorcycle and bicycle travelers who have stayed here since about 2009.
Inside the room we met the Swiss Ursa. This hero has traveled a length of more than 30000 km from north to south through two Americas. In the short time that we spent together it would be possible to write a book from the pieces of his stories.

To be continued...
