Rumours have been floating around for a while about Ducati to be sold by Volkswagen's premium car brand Audi AG. The rumours about the sale of Ducati have led to the news of an Indian motorcycle manufacturer buying the Italian brand. The Indian company here is Royal Enfield.
The information is still unofficial - several foreign media have written about it, having facts from informed sources in the German company. However, journalists are already making predictions about what such synergy can give.
It’s known, that the VW agents had offered Royal Enfield to buy the Ducati brand. According to reports, the Italian motorcycle brand could fetch about 1.5 billion euros. Royal Enfield is currently one of the fastest growing motorcycle brands in the world, having recorded a 33.9 per cent bump in its net profit very recently.
Royal Enfield isn’t the only potential buyer of Ducati. It can also be Hero Corp.
If Royal Enfield buys Ducati, then, according to experts, there will be no vital changes at the management level in Ducati. Both companies will probably work independently and they will have different target audiences. Royal Enfield will further offer affordable old-school motorcycles, available to a wider audience, and the Italian brand will keep on producing powerful, high-speed and aesthetic bikes for gourmet customers.
Ducati's entry in Royal Enfield will enable the Indian company to get access to new and relevant technologies, engineering ideas and, of course, it’ll mean expanding a new segment of customers for the brand.
