Alvaro Bautista won WorldSBK Race One on his debut. Piloting the Aruba.it Racing Ducati V4 R motorcycle, the Spaniard won with more than 15 second-advantage over an early race leader Jonathan Rea.
Before half race distance, Bautista had a gap of over eight seconds, setting back-to-back fastest laps. Alvaro repeated the success of Max Biaggi, who won the debut race in 2007.
During the first half of the race, Jonathan Ray battled with his partner Leon Haslam. On the 13th lap Haslam crashed, and it helped the Irish to finish second with no worries. He had no chance to catch up with Bautista. The third place went to Marco Melandri, being ahead of Alex Lowes.
