Ducati looks all set to introduce a new generation of its power cruiser, the 2022 Ducati Diavel, and the most significant change seems to be an upgrade to Ducati’s V4 engine in the new Diavel V4. This will be the first time that the Diavel will move away from the L-twin format, which has already been replaced in the flagship Panigale superbike, as well as the top-spec Multistrada V4.
The V4 engine is set to replace the 1260 DVT Testastretta L-twin, and instead, the Gran Turismo 1,158 cc V4 engine taken from the Multistrada V4 is expected to power the next generation Diavel V4. In the Multistrada V4, the 1,158 cc V4 puts out 170 bhp at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm of peak torque at 8,750 rpm, but considering the Diavel’s personality and character, the engine may be re-tuned to offer stronger low and mid-range grunt.
Also new will be a brand-new monocoque chassis which will replace the trellis frame of the current Diavel, as will a new side-mounted swingarm. The bike in the spy shots look production-ready, so the new Ducati Diavel V4 looks set to be unveiled officially, possibly as part of the series of unveils the Italian brand has planned as part of its World Premiere series.
We guess the Diavel V4 will be unveiled towards the end of the World Premiere series, with a date set for early November, which is also when the EICMA 2022 show kicks off in Milan.
