Becci Ellis is a professional secretary, but her passion has made her the fastest woman in the world. She set this record on Saturday, September 23rd, at the Elvington track in Great Britain.
The 56-year-old Becci Ellis, a corporate secretary from Scunthorpe, is the fastest woman in the world on a naked motorcycle. She achieved this record on Saturday, September 23rd, at the Elvington track in Great Britain, where Becci reached an incredible speed of 231.389 mph (372.384 km/h) after a 2-kilometer run. She was riding her 1999 Suzuki Hayabusa, extensively modified and equipped with a turbocharger, named Odyssey. It took £24,000 (almost €28,000) and two years of work to prepare the bike, resulting in a missile with approximately 350 horsepower.
Becci is no stranger to such feats. In 2014, she reached 137.945 mph (222 km/h), becoming the fastest female motorcyclist at that time. However, her recent achievement was much more challenging, especially because the air pressure is extremely high at such speeds on a naked bike.
"During my rush, I had to lower my head until the sightline barely touched the edge of the instruments. Any lower, and I wouldn't have been able to see anything, but the pressure on my shoulders was really strong. I don't know if it's because I'm an old wolf, but I can still feel it now: the adrenaline in your body pushes you forward, and you don't feel any pain until it's all over."
Success on the Second Attempt
Setting the record was not easy. The previous record belonged to Evelyn Scholz, who reached 211.398 mph (340.212 km/h) at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2015. Becci's first attempt failed.
"I believe it was because I didn't keep my head low enough. In fact, towards the end of the timed run, I couldn't wait to reach the finish line because of the pressure I felt on my neck."
At 56 years old, Becci's enthusiasm is still that of a young girl.
"People think, 'Damn, at your age, shouldn't you be acting like someone on the brink of retirement?' But I'm not like that, I don't behave like that, and I don't look like that. This is who I am, and I'm doing it!"
