DAKAR 2020 - Stage 12 - outright results
Eight years after making a return to the worlds toughest motorsport event, Honda has returned to the winners podium.
Ricky Brabec took up where victory was snatched from him last year to secure this years Dakar. Speed as well as consistency secure the American the trophy, the first rider from the US to ever do so.
Honda dominated the 2020 edition of Dakar, claiming 6 of the 12 stages and locking out the podium twice, and marks the sixth time that t Japanese manufacturer has won the event.
Pablo Quintanilla did what he could aboard his Husqvarna but couldn’t match the last stage pace of a Brabec and finished overall 16 minutes behind the American. It was a similar story for Australian Toby Price who eventually secure third albeit 24 minutes in arrears. Undoubtably one of the toughest races of the KTM riders career, he was ‘racing for speedy’.
Honda’s victory breaks an 18 year run for KTM, an achievement that will be tough to beat.
