Celebrating 10 years of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.

It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since Mark Hawwa had the random idea to go for a ride with his mates, all dressed to the nines, using a photo of Don Draper from Mad Men on a classic motorcycle as inspiration. What started with a handful of friends cruising the streets of Sydney has grown to hundreds of thousands of gentle folk riding in over 100 countries around the world. As The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride grew, so did its purpose, and, to date, the ride has raised $27.45M USD for men’s health on behalf of Movember. That’s one hell of an achievement.

The last 12 months have seen nearly every motorcycle event cancelled, but there is light at the end of the COVID tunnel. “This year is a little different to most,” says Mark Hawwa. “Similarly to last year, with so many cities still under restrictions, we need to consider the safety of our global community. We’re looking to organize COVID-safe events where possible, but if you can’t take part in a group, we encourage you to connect digitally and ride solo for men’s health and help us celebrate a decade of the event.”

This year, the event boasts some of the most impressive prizes yet, with four brand new motorcycles from major partner Triumph Motorcycles. One of these bikes will be a custom, 1-of-1 DGR Triumph motorcycle, made only for the winner of the 2021 Gentlefolk Competition. It doesn’t stop there: the top 50 fundraisers will receive the special DGR ten-year anniversary Hedon helmets – which can’t be purchased, only earned.

The generous folk at Hedon have also offered up ten Hedonist helmets, which will be custom painted by ten well-known artists and auctioned off to raise funds for mens health. Returning in 2021 is Belstaff, taking the mantle of the event’s motorcycle outfitter partner and providing classic motorcycle outfits for top fundraisers and sprint prizes for event fundraisers. Lastly, ELF lubricants are on board as the official lubricant partner – to help keep DGR running smoothly.

Due to the ever-changing level of restrictions in place in each city and country, the format of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride for 2021 will vary depending on the location in which each ride will take place. There’s three ways to participate: Ride Solo, Route Only Ride and the Normal COVID-safe Ride.
