Find a way to engage her in the activity and do not allow the decision to become a divisive issue. Talk to her calmly and sensibly about her objects. Do *NOT* belittle her reasons nor dismiss them. Take them onboard and ask her how you could help resolve the issues to enable a mutually agreeable solution.
Newbie-666, Brother, she is scared of losing you or seeing you maimed for life. You need to help her address that fear. A tough road to hoe. I have BTDT and made the wrong call on dealing with it, although not about a bike. A bike my girl would have been fine with; Afghanistan as a workplace? Not so much. Good luck with it, but remember, her fear is valid. Your job is to help her with that fear and that means you may never have a bike.
Newbie-666, Still depends. Do you have experience? What kind & how long ago? Have you ever taken the safety course? Would getting a compromise bike like a dirt only or dual sport change her mind or even be acceptable to you (guessing you are either into cruisers or crotch rockets).
Are you now realizing we can't give you a proper answer without details?
Zach Morgan ADVmoto Training, I'm wanting a cruiser not had a bike since my early 20s, will be quite some time before I get a crotch rocket, all I'm wanting is a 125cc as I go out alot and I'm driving diesel guzzling 8 seater, so wanting a bike just for out & about on my own no racing no wheelies just nipping about
I remember when my husband first started riding I wasn't crazy about it, but I never would have tried to stop him. What helped with my anxiety was being able to track him and see him moving in real time. As long as I saw that little motorcycle moving along the map then I knew he was still alive lol. Sounds silly but it really did help a lot.
Newbie-666, It was around 10 years ago, but it was integrated into his garmin nav. I would suggest looking those up because I know some units have that option. There's probably plenty of apps that do the same that aren't 'motorcycle' specific. I think you can even do real time tracking with Google maps these days.
