Grenfell Goannas Poker Run, 2023, Done!

With yesterday's ride done and dusted, I am starting my lazy Sunday off with a coffee in a mug I won as part of the door prize giveaway yesterday evening.

It says "340km" at the bottom, but I think that figure was taken from Google Maps. It was around 360km rubber on road.

I had a great day. I ran into a school mate that I had not seen in 40 years. Good to catch up "Tractor"! A photo was needed, so...

Whilst I do this post at almost lunchtime, my day started off with an sms just after 07:00HrsKilo with this image sent to me by the above "Tractor", bless him. Since then, several other folk have sent the picture to me via sms including a new convert to oir app community here, Eve. As soon as she accepts my friend request, I can tag her. Thanks for all the pics you sent Eve.

Brent Logan of Brent Logan Photography, also a rider, took this snap on the way to a small town called Ardlethan in NSW.

I can confrm that the beard was a well behaved passenger and Two Elles was pulling close 120kph (and still accelerating)up that incline as I past Brent! 😁

Along with the aforementioned "Tractor", I rode with another school friend, Camille. It was Camille who introduced me to Eve. Eve took and supplied the following pics.

Eve, Moir and Camille.

Moir and Camille... we've known each other since she was 6 yo and still mates.

I also caught up with a couple of Brothers from my days in the Assault Pioneer Platoon, but we never got to get any photos done. Maybe next time.

All up it was a great day. I am still far from being road fit, but the new hip coped well with the 340+km trip along country backroads with some highway time thrown in. My back is another story, but it will have to do as Thursday the 9th Mar, I head off to Brisvegas in what will end up being at 2200km return.

For all you older types out there with hips on the way out, if the Doctor suggests a hip replacement and you can afford it, take it! Painful process, but well worth it!

Cheers.
