The trip to Geelong was uneventful
And boarding in the evening at Devonport provided some wonderful sunset views of the distant Tasmanian north coast.
Disembarking the Spirit of Tasmania around 7am I rode to Queenscliff and took the ferry across Port Philip Bay to Sorrento. The ferry app suggested that only the 10am ferry was available however the app has a two hour delay and I was able to book on the 8am passage at the ferry terminal gate. This ferry does not secure your bike so I would only want to use it on a calm day. Happily the weather was calm and the voyage uneventful.
The view of the Sorrento shoreline is interesting and there are some wonderful houses overlooking the bay. Another Victorian motorcyclist on the ferry commented that the ferry was the best way of avoiding the horrific Melbourne morning peak hour traffic to get to the other side of the city or to the east of Melbourne.
