The 81-4 RS crowd may have observed how well the bike balances on the centre stand.

Well, it starts right here with a well balanced stand. 😁

This ‘81 stand is undergoing surgery to make it shorter, similar to the ‘upgrade’ stand offered by BMW.
I’m going to remove between 10 and 15mm, below the cross bar.
I’ll lose height with the front wheel off the ground but so be it.
Stock spring setup will still work.
I’ll wait for new bushes before reinstalling.

It’s way easier to get my heavily loaded RS on the stand as is, but much harder with the bike unloaded. Interesting.
After the mod it should work mo better.
