Budget tourist equipment for a girl
I decided to write this post, since I was asked several times about my equipment and accessories.
I will say at once that although I learned for the years spent in the seat, I really have nothing to brag about, because every time I manage to live in countries where the motor cycle market is very small, so things of my size (XS / S) are either difficult to find, or they will be expensive, or they must be ordered at your own risk and risk through the Internet and wait for delivery in weeks.
However, if your situation is similar to mine: low height / weight with a limited budget, then this article may be useful to you.
As I already wrote, I opened in Finland category A, and it is customary to give out all the equipment there (helmet, jacket, pants, gloves, bots) for the duration of training. I accepted the jacket and trousers with gratitude, but disdained all the rest. On the other hand, I did not know then how long my hobby for motorcycles would last, and therefore I did not want to invest in unnecessarily expensive equipment. Because my choice fell on the brand Richa - one of the most budgetary in the EU.
I bought a textile jacket, trousers, Kevlar jeans, women's turing bots and two pairs of gloves: leather and textile. All but the bots, I still wear, I mean already the fourth season. The purchase of women's turking boats was a mistake, because they had a very thin and slippery outsole, and the problem of insufficient growth was suggested to be solved at the expense of a 5-centimeter heel. Heel and tourist bots are incompatible if you value your life and health. I got a foot fracture, but remembered the lesson.
Unfortunately, I did not find exactly the same models on the manufacturer's website, only very similar ones. But I think that the principle has not changed: the designers of Richa quite know their business. Thoughtful screeds, good ventilation, built-in protection really helps with falls (in any case, at low speed). And all this - at prices within 100 euros!
n trousers I really like the presence of an unfastened "waistcoat", which protects the back from the wind, and also prevents the pants from falling if, due to unforeseen circumstances, I have to limit myself in eating.
But, most importantly, jeans and both pairs of gloves survived these FOUR seasons and a total of 50+ thousand kilometers very worthy.
And in leather, too
For comparison, this is how the FIVE GT2 WP Touring Legs look like after a single season, that I bought four times more expensive than Richa already here in New Zealand. Note that the index finger of the left hand is already completely crawled out
As for the bots, I decided to buy the next budget, already unisex (without a heel), but again disappointed. Once again, the truth was confirmed that cheap shoes are not good. These Falco bots, in spite of the manufacturer's promises, let the water pass as a colander, and the sole, initially not slippery, was obliterated in a couple of months of active exploitation. I do not recommend it.
As a result, as the main turing bots I used the Finnish army boots Alpina for the second season already. They well hold a foot, give plus 4 cm to the length of the legs without any heels, and you can go 20 km a day in them without problems, even in the marshes. And you still stay in dryness and comfort. I highly recommend, especially since the price for them does not bite very much - I took new ones for about 120 euros.
After moving to New Zealand, it turned out that all my clothes were too hot for the local climate, so I bought one more trousers and a jacket. The analogue of Richa in this part of the world is DriRider with the proud inscription "Australian design (sewed in Pakistan)".
By the ratio of "price-quality" it is a complete analogue of Richa. Within 100 euros for the item! DriRider APEX3 in Wellington can be seen on every fifth motorcyclist :)
Another brand, which produces, along with professional equipment, motor-budget segment, attracted me is RST. At the same time, their design is much more thoughtful and pleasant to the eye. I'm still delighted with the Cargo Jeans with the Aramid (Kevlar analog). I wear them even in everyday life, taking out protective inserts.
And their textile trousers were so pleasing to my mother that she took them away and took them to Denmark. So now all members of my family are RST fans :)
For protection from heavier rain or for longer trips I use bicycle and tourist clothing: a Polaris jacket and trousers Salewa.
Excellent perform their functions and can be used simultaneously for moto, bike and hiking. Budget! However, for cycling trips I do not like Polaris jacket - it too badly draws sweat out. But for a motorcycle it is irrelevant.
As for the helmets, in four years I have not found my ideal. First I bought LaZer Kestrel, but after three uses I fell down badly, and the helmet was damaged a lot. At the same time, there was a feeling that the brain was falling out through the nose and eyes. But they didn't fall out. My next helmet was the budget LS2 FF352 Rookie (pictured). Worthy option for their money (less than 50 euros). Light, compact, well sits. The visor does not fog much even without pinlock ... The only claim is that it is very noisy.
The helmet of size S fits even the smallest trunk.
Unlike the modulator HJC IS MAX II size XS, which had to be pushed into the trunk, leaving scratches
I like the modular more than the integral, although the soundproofing is not better in it than in LS2. If it's hot, you can open. Plus there are built-in sunglasses. The disadvantage is that the lever of lowering of glasses is not sideways, as at the majority of models, and on a nape. For 7 months of use, I was not used to it.
'll complain at the same time and on my bags - OGIO Stealth. I bought them, trusting reviews on RevZilla, and after three months they looked like the picture below. Protection from the rain was destoryed, sides rubbed. Although I secured them as reliably as I could, and the cloaks also held out as much as possible
For comparison - my cape for a backpack is alive and well for two years, and all because there is not a single seam that could disperse
After the tragic death of the trunk and bags, I carry all my luggage, which does not fit in my backpack, in such a trunk that I screw onto the passenger seat. Five months, no problem :) I got the bag free of charge in one of the Finnish shops selling sports goods. It looks bad ... But the image is nothing, in comparison with the thirst for travel: -Р
