Almost the Final Step in Restoring the NC30
While assembling the engine, I didn't notice the differences in the shafts where the clutch is mounted. Naturally, I started fitting the clutch basket from an NC30 onto the NC21 engine. That's when I realized the shafts were completely different. The shaft on the NC21 is shorter, and I didn't want to split the engine again to replace them. So, I acquired a clutch basket from an NC24 since they are identical on both the NC21 and the NC24.
Next, I needed to deal with the starter. I barely managed to unscrew the positive wire from it because the stud holding this wire was spinning, which definitely shouldn't happen. After disassembling the starter, I found out there was a tricky bushing made of textolite.
I had to improvise: I found a slide valve from a Vikhry 30 in the garage, which was also made of textolite.
