The company Harley-Davidson released a set of photographs and facts in honor of the 60th anniversary of its model Sportster. Therefore, we have collected here the most remarkable motorcycles from the famous line of "classics".

It all started with two letters

The first Sportster appeared in 1957. Its platform was called XL and it originally had a huge potential for modernization. The motorcycle was equipped with a V-shaped 833 cc motor with the telescopic front-end and hydraulic rear swingarm suspension.

Off-road XLHC

In 1958 they released the XLCH (Competition Hot) Sportster in off-road design. The toothy tires, the bobbed rear fender and the “peanut tank” from the 125-cc Model 5 of 1948 were responsible for the utility.

The racing legend XR750

The XR750 Sportster has become truly legendary: since the 70s this model has set the records in American Dirt Track racing for three decades! A road legal version of the bike, called XR1000, was sold since 1983.

The XLCR Café Racer

The XLCR model firstly appeared in 1977, where the last two letters are stand for Café Racer. Among its radical changes we can name a new frame, a dual-disc front and a single-disk rear brake, as well as aluminum cast wheels and rear footpegs.

Sportster for Ladies

Since in the 80's the popularity of two-wheeled transport among women grew, in 1987 Harley-Davidson released the Sportster XLH883 Hugger. According to anthropometric parameters, it was well suitable for short and female riders.

Radical update in 2008

In 2008, Sportster became more modern due to the release of the highly modernized, in comparison with its predecessors, the XR1200 model. It had an engine bumped up to 90 horsepower, inverted front forks, enhanced brakes, aluminum rear swingarm, a modern device panel and rear footpegs.

Chopper Sportster

The Sportster of 1972 was renewed and released in 2012. It was a Sportster, performed in the form of a classic charismatic chopper of the 70's.

Sportster 60 years later

Modern "Sportsters" are a combination of the present old school style and modern technologies, such as anti-lock brake system, powerful brakes or expensive shock absorbers.
