Honda Gold Wing recalled over an airbag issue

Honda USA has announced a recall of its Gold Wing due to an issue with its airbag. According to reports, the airbag inflator might explode.

The Gold Wing uses Takata airbags. And you might remember of the Takata airbag fiasco that happened in the past. The airbag inflator on the Gold Wing might explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to higher absolute humidity, temperature, and temperature cycling.2739425a6780cfd993a.jpg

This is the third time that Honda has to issue a recall because of Takata. The latest recall will affect a total of 960 units of Gold Wing (2009-2010 and 2012-2016 model years). For those who were looking to get the 2018 Gold Wing, that doesn’t have a Takata-made airbag. So, cheers!

Just like any other recall drill, Honda will notify the owners of the affected models. They can get the issue resolved at a Honda dealership free of cost. We are still waiting to get the schedule of the recall process.
