Very often, the need to stand out as a builder is the supreme motivation for teams behind some of the most extraordinary projects. Chances are that this is also the case of Standbike’s V8 extreme concept motorbike. Considered a monster of two-wheeled vehicles, this machine here is, as unbelievable as it might sound, ready-to-ride.
But it has come a very long way from beginning to finalization (eight years, to be precise) and it is all due to numerous individual technical solutions that had to be implemented. Although the wide wheels featuring a flat profile don’t lean on turns, the bike’s body does. The body is also the one carrying most of the vehicle’s mass (520 kg) so that can’t sound like an easy task.
The engine is an old style V8 displacing 305-cubic-inch and it is built by General Motors while the mechanical gearbox features 4+1 (for reverse) gears. Weighing a total of 690 kg and measuring 3210mm in length, this is definitely one motorcycle that can’t be easily pushed backwards so that’s why there is a reverse gear.
All steering and leaning maneuvers are performed with assistance from hydraulic and electronic systems and, quite frankly, by the way that this bike looks like, it sure needs those systems.
So, what do you think of Standbike now after seeing what they’re capable of?
