The XB9R is a collaboration between the team at NCCR, Buell Racing, ME Racing, and SSAB, a steelmaking company that provided the entire Backbone frame for the bike. The original fuel-in-frame concept was hardly touched – the team opted for twin tubular fuel cells and an integrated fuel pump to stay true to the bike’s classic design. The tires are probably the most notable addition to the bike, sporting 25mm speedway ice spikes and a menacing silhouette that looks absolutely murderous. Two fuel cells were mounted to the custom steel frame and treated to an E85 mod that, in true Swedish fashion, allows the bike to ingest illegal alcohol to keep it running during those extra cold Scandinavian winter nights.
