Since its establishment in 2014, praëm selects frames and drivetrains with distinct racing pedigrees to create redrawn custom machines. the ‘SP3’ originated from a honda ‘VTR 1000 RC51 SP2’ which won the SBK championship in 2000. the project aimed for the grand tourer segment – a goal to balance between a pure racing bike and a comfortable long distance commuter. each surface of the motorcycle was treated depending on its type of use with all mechanical and structural elements blacked out. brushed aluminum and stainless steel each defined the ergonomic and aerodynamic surfaces.

The two millimeter stainless steel wired fairings were influenced by the sculptures by brooklyn-based korean artist seung mo park. the varied gaps between wires allowed fresh air to travel through the motorcycle, exiting to release hot air from the engine section. praëm collaborated with luxury watch company tag heuer to create a truly rare addition to the ‘SP3’. together, they managed to integrate a ‘monaco calibre 11’ watch onto the tank of the motorcycle. the integration covers the complete watch, including the strap, to protect it when riding.

Performance of the ‘SP3’ matches the ancestor it came from with 165 hp with a stock racing geometry. the powertrain has been reassembled from the best parts available on the market, such as lightweight carbon fiber wheels, radial brakes with carbon-ceramic discs and suspension. unlike it’s predecessors, the cutout in the ‘SP3’ tank prevents the rear cylinder from overheating. it also has a larger capacity of 12 liters and keeps the dry weight low at 180 kilograms. the praëm ‘SP3’ motorcycle took approximately 4000 hours.
