Laverda Motorcycle Company has a rich history that goes back to 1873, when Pietro Laverda decided to start making agricultural engines. Laverda became a serious motorcycle brand with the introduction of its 750cc parallel twin that was sold in the U.S. in 1968 and ‘69 as the America Eagle motorcycle.

Evel Knievel famously crashed one in a 1970 jump. The SFC was Laverda’s entry into the Super Sports segment of the motorcycle market. SFC stands for “Super Freni Competition,” which when translated means “Super Brakes Competition,” paying homage to the company’s four leading-shoe drum brake that was quite an innovation in the early ‘70s.

Built by hand in small batches from 1971 to ‘76, only around 550 examples were produced in total. As evidenced by its success in endurance competition, the SFC was not only fast, but it was also bullet-proof reliable. The SFC evolved to include disc brakes and cast alloy wheels. It was developed to win endurance events like the Oss 24 hours, Barcelona 24 hours and the Bol D’Or at Le Mans. Distinguished by its characteristic orange paint that would become the company's race department color, its smooth aerodynamic fairing and upswept exhaust, the SFC was Laverda's flagship product and best advertisement.

At the heart of the SFC was an air-cooled 744cc OHC parallel twin that produced between 70 and 75 HP at 7,500 RPM; each example was dyno tested to ensure a minimum of 70 HP, and with a wet weight of 420 pounds, the road-legal racer was reportedly capable of a 135 MPH top speed.

The Breganze SF750 concept presented here, goes between the "Cafè Racer “of the 60s and the modern” StreetFighters" of today.
