The CB1000R, which was released in 2018 as Honda's new generation naked, will end in 2023 and will undergo a full model change in 2024. However, it will be reborn as a popular street fighter in Europe, not the CB-F concept that was considered the successor.

The CB1000R was originally sold locally in Europe, but in 2018 it was expanded globally and launched in Japan. At that time, the direction was changed from a street fighter to a cafe racer, and the target was expanded by making it a popular neo-classical style.

At the same time, starting with the CB1000R, a series of CB650R, CB250R, CB125R, etc. was launched to launch a new era of Honda CB, but sales of the flagship CB1000R were sluggish. Although the design will be improved in 2021, the situation will not change, and the current CB1000R is said to be the final model in 2023.

The new CB1000R is expected to return to its origins as a street fighter and is expected to greatly improve its potential based on the 2017 model CBR1000RR (SC77 type). Since Streetfighter is focused on performance, an update to the base model would be welcomed.

The SC77-type CBR1000RR has a maximum output of 192PS, which is sufficient for its rivals in Europe. In addition, the introduction of electronic controls such as slide control and semi-active suspension that has been significantly updated with the SC77 type will make it even more attractive.

CB1000R was supposed to be the CB-F Concept

The search for the new CB1000R has actually surfaced since 2020. The CB-F concept was released online in place of the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, which was canceled due to the corona disaster. The 1979 CB750F/CB900F was reproduced using the CB1000R engine and chassis.

The CB-F concept was planned from the end of 2018 to be proposed for the 60th anniversary of the CB in 2019. The slump of the CB1000R, the failure of the CB1300 series to compete with Kawasaki's Z900RS, and Suzuki's announcement of the new KATANA are all contributing factors.

If the response is great, the CB-F Concept could be on release now. However, it turned out that this was not commercially available. At an event held in November, Mr. Tetsuo Ban, who worked on the CB-F concept, said that he would not appear.

At the March 2022 motorcycle show, which was held in real life for the first time in three years, not a single CB was exhibited, suggesting the end of sales of the CB1000R and the end of the CB-F concept project. And the new 2024 CB1000R will return to the street fighter.

The new CB1000R will also be equipped with winglets!

It seems that the CB1000R, which was reborn to be sold not only in Europe but also in Japan and other global markets, ended up in the middle of nowhere. In order to shake off this, the new 2024 CB1000R will be naked based on the latest SC77-type CBR1000RR.

A patent has also been filed for a winglet that conforms to the Super Sports, perhaps in order to pursue even more thorough performance improvements. In the document, there is a drawing of a street fighter equipped with a parallel 4-cylinder engine that looks like the new CB1000R.

Winglets are installed on high-power motorcycles to suppress wheelies, and this patent suggests the direction of the new CB1000R. Rivals Ducati and BMW also have appealing performance with large winglets, and it is also effective in showing off performance.

Do it in Street Fighter. The CG illustration of the new CB1000R was inspired by the parts that show Honda's spirit of unbeatable performance and appearance, but this is the original CB1000R. The next issue is what to do with the model to replace the CB1300.

Production of the former flagship CB1300 series will end in 2025

The 2024 new CB1000R is information that it will be released in Japan even if it becomes a street fighter style. However, the CB1300 Super Four and the Kawasaki Z900RS, which are popular in the Japanese market, are naked with round headlights and should not be removed from the lineup.

Therefore, it would not be surprising if a new Japanese CB was prepared separately from the new CB1000R. The reason is that the current CB1300 Super Four needs to upgrade the in-vehicle diagnostic device OBD2 by November 2026, and there is information that production will end at that time.

According to the Web forecast, 2025 will be the final year, so we would like to prepare a model that can compete with the Z900RS by then. Since 2018, it is believed that Honda will not simply let its rival, who has been the top seller of large motorcycles in Japan, remain silent.

On the other hand, there are rumors that the new CB400, which will replace the CB400 Super Four, which was discontinued in November 2022, is under development and targeting the Chinese market. There is a possibility that the Japanese CB with a common image will be rebuilt as a brother model of medium and large size.
