Trike Lotus. The history of creation

This project was born 6 years ago, my friend wanted to build a trike. He knew who could help him.
We began to select a donor, we searched for cardan motorcycle of a large volume. We even considered W-Max, but then found Suzuki Intruder1400, the whole rusty, but with a small run and cheap. We started to come up with a future concept, my friend painted a sketch of what he wanted.

Judging by the sketch, only motor, steering column and wiring should remain from the motorcycle. All the rest is new, completely self-made running, facing details and much more.
All the complexity was to make a strong frame, so that all this could ride, be safe and still maintainable. The moped was put on the register, and then sawn completely, the study of the geometry of the future trike began.

The engine was placed in the middle of the workshop, two wheels we rolled up from behind, one in front, a chair was put behind the engine ... Long dances with a tape measure gave the concept of future dimensions and frame construction (the test frame was bent from a thin pipe). We bought a special thick-walled (6mm) Seamless St20 pipe. The rear gearbox with the drives was taken from the turbo Caldina, because Toyota is cheap and reliable. All details were laid out on a flat floor in the brewhouse, eyes are afraid, but hands are doing ...
The frame was made in a week, the most difficult was to bend the main pipes symmetrically and calculate maintainability (so that any node could be pulled out independently of the other). The rear suspension is independent, will give normal handling. It was decided to do the lever fork, but after we abandoned it. As a temporary option, we decided to extend its native telescope. It was difficult to make hubs for the rear wheels to connect them with the suspension elements. Our aircraft factory was engaged, it made us traverses, rear hubs, adapters for new wheels.

Joy from the first riding was enough for the next jerk - the solving errors and refinement of the design. The fork departure was reduced, the fork itself was shortened, and the rear suspension got additional levers for greater rigidity.
It is time to look at overall aesthetics. The fuel tank was located under the rear seat, and in place of the usual tank was a false tank for placing electronics and a compressor (an air suspension is planned). Under the driver's seat there is a gasoline pump and a general electrician for pepelats.
And then the day of the first serious departure came.

Without wings, silencers, but already with brakes ... This effect was not expected by anybody, people were really shocked, turned their heads, died away on the spot. The trip gave the necessary moral strength to continue building the trike further.
The next two years gave the trike the appearance - wings, seat, new front wheel, mufflers, some of the nodes were redone.

After the painting, it's time for additional tests and riding. The handlebar was replaced. All bolts and nuts were replaced with stainless steel, and hydraulics on reinforced hoses with chrome fittings. Changed the electrician (wires hidden in the steering wheel, installed a signal, music, tuning panel, turn signals). We made a new seat, put the pinnstring (with elements of the lotus flower) on it and on the liner, handles and footboards were changed. Manageable is very expensive, only the turning radius is too large. But there is an electric reverse.

Sometimes it seems that the construction will never end, many details you want to remake or change, but the most important thing is that our trike rides, it is reliable and lives its life, changing and our views. Most likely, this is far from over. There is no limit to perfection)) Our trike is an example of the fact that thoughts materialize. Any dream can be realized, your friends will help in this, the main thing is to strive and do something.
All the years of work are worth even one trip. An inexpressible feeling when you're driving on what you've done yourself.
