It's always about the storage.
After getting back in to the world of motorbikes and having a clapped out banger moving to a new bike was a must but it had to tick a lot of boxes. The biggest was of course learner legal (UK) but I also needed storage, and a bit of comfort. you would think most 125cc motorbikes would fit the bill with a top box but after 12 hours of work gears and all that are a bit of a mission to spend time thinking about your ride so it dose cut the pack in half and throws you in to or sticking to scooters. many to choose from but the Italians have it all covered with the piaggio xevo 125. not only was this bike quick the ride was comfortable and with under seat storage and a boot that goes throughout the whole thing this maxi scooter was a pure luxury. I was doing 30 miles each way to work daily and this bike was a joy, all my work gear was packed away with extra bits to see me right for the day and no top box. A full tank did 154 miles before a fill (11lt) and would run happily at 70mph just as much as at 20mph. so far I bet you think I had some happy times on this bike well yes but NOPE!! I got this bike from new and I was so happy with everything until one little problem cost me 6 weeks of pain! a small fault in the cooling system caused the whole cooling system to fail and one problem became many, even with warranty and help from piaggio it took 6 weeks to get this sorted and back on the road and was only one of many little problem's over the three years I kept this bike. I honestly can't knock this bike too much as when it worked it was a fantastic ride but it did see the back of an AA van far too many times and it had to go after leaving me in a dangerous position on a busy A road on a blind bend at rush hour which took two police cars and an AA van to recover after the engine gave out.
on reflection this bike with a honda or anything other than piaggio engine would be a huge seller but it's reliability was shocking. storage wise it was good and a key seller for me but at the time I didn't know there was something better out there but not just yet I had another before hand and it was worse before getting something just right.
if your not a big rider and love scooters this is a great bike for a 125cc the storage will get you a good amount of stuff inside but don't expect it to go a tour as the engine won't thank you for it.
