Driveshaft inspection day!

I managed to tear apart my rear wheel and driveshaft today.

Upon closer inspection the driveshaft was bone dry so I cleaned it, and greased it. Putting the shaft back together wasn't as terrible as I thought it'd be.

The pads are worn down to less than 1/8th of an inch so I will replace them.

The rear tire is developing a flat surface on the middle of the tire. I'll probably replace that to this season.

All I have left is coolant flush, oil change, air filter replacement, and to inspect the spark plugs.

I don't know when any maintenance was done on the bike prior to my owning it, so it's best to be thorough.

That all looks familiar. I re greased my driveshaft when I installed my DJ Drive a couple years ago. (best upgrade you can do) You might look at going the "naked jugs" route for the air filter. I also recently converted my coolant to Evens waterless coolant. I could get into oil and spark plugs as well if you want. I've geeked out far more than is healthy on these bikes. looking good though. The right maintenance goes a long way.

Jester Top, I hear ya Jester. Someone in another forum mentioned the DJ drive shaft mod. I guess I don't understand the benefit of that upgrade. :)

As for coolant selections...depending on what my coolant looks like I may go that route.

So many decisions so little time. :) Thanks for the suggestions though!

RemoteCoderZ, the DJ Drive just modifys a c/m90 drive to work on a c/m50. it essentially lowers the RPMs by about 14% thus giving each gear a bit of an overdrive. makes it so it's much less annoying on the freeway and also makes it so 1st gear isn't entirely useless. you've already done the hard part if you find a used one. Doing the mod itself is a bit more complicated but not hard.
