MCGTTX & MotoGP Trip Follow-up

What a long strange trip it's been. The morning started out cool and overcast. Got a few misting moments but nothing too wet. My first destination was in Teague, TX. Checked out the sidecars and some of the vendors at their open house. My next stop was in Hearne, TX and somewhere just before town and unknown to me I picked up a puncture in my rear tire. I stopped for lunch in Hearne and when leaving their parking lot the bike was difficult to roll backwards. I attributed that to their uneven gravel parking lot and continued on to Bryan, TX and onward down TX-6 to Navasota, TX. During stretches between Hearne and Navasota I hit 90+ mph 3 times and I think I threw from my tire whatever had punctured it because the rear end felt very squishy as it was quickly losing air. I pulled over a mile from Navasota on BUS-6 and found my tire was flat. So I slowly rode it about 50 yards to a subdivision which had a good level spot to park the bike. It is 3pm on Saturday and all the bike shops with 50 mile radius will be closing in less than 2 hours. I walked to town and bought a tire plug kit. Then on the way back a guy from a tire shop that I had passed gave me a ride back to my bike and brought an air tank. He assisted with plugging the tire and aired it up. I carried on to the next stop Burton, TX and then on to Bastrop to my hotel riding at a max limit of 60mph. First crisis averted. I contemplated my options and decided to proceed. That evening I went to the C&S Cigar Lounge and after they closed I headed back to my hotel. A cop lights me up. Crap! 10mph over. Luckily only a warning. Second crisis averted. Sunday I went to the MotoGP. Enjoyed watching the races and spending $$$ for super-overpriced food/drink. My left knee was on-fire so I left the last race a bit early. Get to my bike and my key is missing. SHIT! So I go back into the venue and contact the guest services and voila' they got it, someone found it and turned it in. Let me tell you the best people are associated with motorcycles, no doubt. Third crisis averted. Monday I have to decide to either go home or ride to the next 6 destinations first on a suspect tire. Oh wait there is a motorcycle dealership in Austin which is open on Mondays. Very unusual. So I go there and buy a tire from these life-savers. Fourth crisis averted. I go ahead and do 3 of the 6 remaining destinations and then go home. Holy cow!
