Fast and Safe: TT 2006
The Mountain waits in mist and stone,
A ribbon cut through earth and sky.
Engines hum a low, deep tone,
And every rider knows why.
“Fast and safe” the words they send,
A wish flung out to guard the brave.
Not a prayer to slow, not to pretend,
But to dance with death and still behave.
Legend, hero of the roads, you come
Where hedges bite and tarmac burns.
No room for fear, no room for numb,
Only instinct when the moment turns.
Then you’re there, a blur, a roar,
One second, gone before you see.
The crowd’s breath catches, hearts hit floor,
Then lifts as speed slaps through the sea
Of bodies pressed against the wall,
Eyes wide, fists clenched, souls awake.
For that split instant, fear and all
Turns into fire for your sake.
Throttle open, heart made of flame,
Eyes locked where the next bend hides.
To win is not to play the game,
It’s to ride the edge and ride it right.
So let the island hold its breath again,
As you carve the line that few can trace.
Fast and safe, the creed of men
Who chase the fire and keep their grace.
