I just looked at the pictures and the condition of the hulls is not as bad as it looks on the screen, honestly. There's another weld on the underside of the cases, which won't be visible on final assembly because a plate will be in the way there. How the hell they got damaged there is mind boggling - any ideas?

I'm going for blacked out cases anyway so box fresh isn't my aim on this. Hopefully if you've been reading or following you get what I'm after.

Would it be best to keep a crank together with it's original crank cases? I could swap out these cases for another set I have lurking about but wonder if this might bring other problems?
